RECCAACLUB
NITC never truly leaves the hearts of those who once called its precincts home. RECCAA Club is a shining testament to the fact.

REC CALICUT × KOCHI
BEFORE THERE WAS RECCAA
Before there was a club, before there was an alumni association, there were a few engineers who had studied together at REC Calicut and were now working across Kochi.
They would gather on the parapet wall connecting Menaka and Sridhar theatres before walking to Bharat Tourist Home. Over dosas and puris, they talked about work, life and the possibility of having a community of their own.
What began as informal meetings slowly became the first stirrings of what would become RECCAA.

- 02 -
THE PEOPLE WHO MADE IT POSSIBLE
The story of RECCAA is closely tied to the people who gave it direction. Prof. P M Jussay remained at the centre of the early movement, while M R Devadas, Sudesh Jain, Francis K Paul, A M Sadick and others turned an idea into something that could endure.
Their contribution was not limited to attending meetings. They travelled across Kochi, brought alumni together, organised gatherings and kept the association moving when there was no structure to rely on.

WHEN THE COMMUNITY CAME TOGETHER
“Let us do it.”
— Sudesh Jain
One of the earliest moments that revealed what this group could do was the effort to help Suma Joseph. She needed treatment in the United Kingdom, but the cost was beyond what her family could manage.
Nearly two hundred alumni were contacted, and everyone contributed what they could. The treatment could not reverse her condition, but it stopped its progression.
For those involved, the episode became more than an act of assistance. It showed what was possible when the alumni came together.

FROM AN IDEA TO A PLACE
The idea of having a space of their own had been present for years before the RECCAA Club was built. When the project finally began, it came with financial and construction challenges.
Alumni stepped forward with ₹1.8 crore in interest-free, unsecured loans to help the project move ahead.
During construction, when a crane began sinking while lifting the roof structure, alumni engineers reached the site and worked together to find a solution. The building that eventually emerged was the result of years of planning, contribution and collective effort.

TATHVA '26
THE NEXT CHAPTER
RECCAA’s history is not only a record of buildings, meetings and projects. It is a record of people who stayed connected across batches and generations, and of a community that repeatedly found ways to work together.
Tathva ’26 brings a new generation into that wider story. For students who are beginning to build their own networks, ideas and careers, the history of RECCAA offers something concrete to look at: how a small group of people, meeting regularly and helping one another, gradually built something much larger than what they had initially imagined.
